한국관광의 별은 문화체육관광부와 한국관광공사가 국내 관광에 대한 관심 제고를 위해 매년 각 분야에서 관광발전에 기여한 관광자원 또는 단체(인물)를 발굴·시상하는 관광분야 최고 권위의 상이다.
2010년 처음 시작해 13회째인 올해는 국민 추천후보 사전심사, 선정위원회의 1·2차 평가 등을 통해 6개 부문 8개 분야에 대한 수상이 이뤄졌다.
이번에 선정된 2곳은 방문객을 위한 실감 콘텐츠 기술 도입이 선정에 큰 보탬이 됐다.
스마트 관광도시 조성사업의 일환인 오디오 가이드를 통해 스마트폰으로 관광지 해설을 들을 수 있으며, AR 도슨트 투어, 게이미피케이션 등의 기능을 도입해 증강현실체험이 가능해 졌다. 또 관광지를 활용한 야외방탈출 프로그램을 제공해 큰 호응을 얻었다.
사적 제512호인 대릉원은 신라시대 왕·왕비·귀족 등의 무덤 23기가 모여 있는 곳으로 올해는 대릉원 무료개방과 함께 천마총 발굴 50주년을 기념해 펼쳐진 ‘대릉원 미디어아트’가 5월 4일부터 6월 4일까지 32일간 대릉원의 밤을 아름답게 수놓으며 성황리에 마무리 됐다.
사적 제18호인 동궁과 월지는 신라 왕궁의 별궁터로 밤 풍경이 아름답기로 유명한 곳이다. 여기에 최근 꾸준한 복원·정비 사업과 체험시설, 관람 편의시설을 더해 ‘도심 속의 신라’를 느낄 수 있게 마련됐다.
