금융기관인 서울 강동농협(조합장=박성직)의 베트남 해외연수(12월3일-7일)에 참여했다. 이 기간(12월3일-7일) 중, 1967년 청룡부대로 파월돼 다낭 지역에서 근무했던 이복순 님(1948년생)과 함께 여행하게 됐다.
이 분이 파월용사 시절, 9명이 잠복근무를 나가게 됐다. 잠복할 장소까지 이동하는 중, 똥이 마려워 뒤쳐지게 됐다. 이윽고 똥을 싸는 순간, 펑하는 소리와 함께 분대원 8명이 한꺼번에 전사하는 비참한 상황이 발생했다.
그 분은 혼자 살아남았다. 그는 베트남 참전 용사 중 영웅이었다.
