브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= LG유플러스는 오는 19일부터 5G 스마트폰 고객도 LTE 요금제로 가입하거나 변경할 수 있도록 이용약관 등을 개편한다고 18일 밝혔다.
지금까지는 5G 스마트폰 구매 시 5G 요금제로만 가입이 가능했으며, LTE 요금제로 변경하려면 별도의 과정을 거치거나 자급제 5G 단말을 구매해야만 했다.
LG유플러스는 고객의 통신요금·단말 선택권을 확대하고 통신서비스 이용경험을 개선하기 위해 과학기술정보통신부 이용약관 신고 절차 등을 거쳐 고객이 원하는 요금제를 사용할 수 있는 환경을 마련했다.
이에 따라 5G/LTE 단말 종류에 관계 없이 5G/LTE 요금제 이용이 가능해졌다. 단, 5G 네트워크의 속도와 품질을 경험하려면 5G 단말에 5G 요금제를 사용해야 하며, 5G 단말을 이용하면서 LTE 요금제를 사용하는 경우 LTE망 서비스를 제공 받게 된다.
요금제 변경 시 지원금 차액 정산금(위약금)이 발생할 수 있으며, 가까운 LG유플러스 매장 또는 고객센터에 문의하면 안내 받을 수 있다.
