브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 김종인 전 국민의힘 비대위원장은 개혁신당에서 내분 조짐이 일어나고 있는데 대해 "이준석과 이낙연 신당은 생리적으로 맞지 않는 정당인데 갑자기 (합당)해버렸다"고 밝혔다.
김종인 전 위원장은 지난 16일 CBS라디오 '박재홍의 한판승부'에 출연해 "(신당은) 원래 정체성에 맞지 않는 사람도 같이 섞여 들어온 거 아니냐. 그러니 초기에 부작용이 있는 것이고 그걸 슬기롭게 극복하지 않으면 아무것도 안 되는 것"이라고 말했다.
그는 "합당 배경을 보면, 이준석 공동대표는 '나한테 흡수되는 것'이라 생각해서 선뜻 합당에 동의했던 것 같다"면서 "갑작스럽게 합쳤기 때문에 지금 융화 작용이 일어나는 시간이 좀 필요할 것이다. 결합하려면 초기에 약간 불협화음도 있는데 자기네들끼리 알아서 잘 수습할 것"이라고 지적했다.
이어 그는 "제3지대 정당은 새로운 정치 세력이 필요하다는 명분을 국민에게 소상하게 설명할 수 있어야 가능하다"면서 "지금 제3지대를 보면 사실 구정치인이 설치는 판이 돼버린 것"이라고 평가절하했다.
특히 이낙연 공동대표를 향해서 "세상 권력으로서 할 수 있는 데까지 다 했다. 그러니까 원로로서 젊은 이준석을 소위 좀 밀어주는 역할을 해야 한다"면서 "어디 가서 총선에 출마하면 괜히 욕이나 얻어먹지 별로 득이 될 게 없다. 사실 정치인은 마무리를 어떻게 잘 하느냐가 가장 중요한데 그 나이 정도 드신 분이면 다음 대선 출마도 안 된다"고 주장했다.
반면 이준석 공동대표의 총선 지역구 출마에 대해선 "이번에 국회에 진입하지 않으면 정치생명이 그걸로 끝난다고 생각한다"며 "대구·경북으로 가서 앞으로 미래를 약속할 수 있는 지도자감이라는 인식을 받으면 내가 보기에 당선될 수 있다"고 강조했다.
김 전 위원장은 일각에서 자신이 개혁신당 공천관리위원장으로 거론되는데 대해서도 불쾌감을 드러냈다. 그는 "괜히 자기네들이 하는 소리다. 그 말 자체가 기분이 별로 안 좋다"며 "(전권을) 다 준다고 해도 내가 안 한다. 그 복잡한 사람들 속에 들어가서 도와줄 수 있는 방법도 없고 도와줄 여건도 아니다"라고 잘라말했다.
