대통령실이 23일 윤석열 대통령 관련 허위조작 영상 확산에 대해 "강력 대응할 방침"이라며 "민주주의 꽃 총선을 앞두고 허위조작이 확대·재생산 되지 않도록 사회 전체가 힘을 모으길 기원한다"고 밝혔다.
김수경 대통령실 대변인은 이날 용산 대통령실 브리핑에서 "방심위는 오전 통신소위를 개최했다"며 "실제 영상을 이용해 만든 해당 게시물이 일반인들로 하여금 실제 대통령이 관련 발언한 것으로 오인케 할 우려가 커 접속차단을 의결했다"며 이같이 전했다.
그러면서 "일부 매체서 사실과 다른 허위 조작 영상을 풍자 영상으로 규정하거나 가상 표시가 있어 괜찮다는 등으로 보도하고 있는 점에 심각한 우려를 표하는 바"라며 "가짜 뉴스를 근절해야 하는 언론 사명에도 반하는 행동"이라고 강조했다.
또 "해당 영상은 명백히 허위 조작 영상"이라며 "설령 가상 표시를 했다 하더라도 가상 표시를 삭제한 편집 영상이 온라인서 확대 재생산되고 있으므로 허위 정보 확산을 막아야 한다는 당위성에 비춰 반드시 근절돼야 한다"고 덧붙였다.
앞서 지난 21일 서울경찰청은 방송통신심의위에 해당 영상 삭제 차단을 요청한 가운데 다음날인 22일 방심위는 신속 심의를 통해 관련 허위조작 영상에 대한 차단 조치를 만장일치로 의결했다. 또 해당 영상이 사회 혼란을 현저히 야기할 우려가 있다고 보고 각 소셜미디어에 차단 요청을 할 예정이다.
'윤석열 대통령 양심고백연설' 제목으로 퍼진 46초 분량 해당 영상은 지난 2022년 2월 윤 대통령의 대선후보 시절 진행된 TV연설 장면이 짜집기된 가운데 윤 대통령 모습의 가상 인물이 등장해 "무능하고 부패한 윤석열 정부는 특권·반칙·부정·부패를 일삼았다"며 "저 윤석열은 상식에서 벗어난 이념에 매달려 대한민국을 망치고 국민을 고통에 빠뜨렸다"고 말하는 내용을 담고 있다.
