윤석열 대통령이 26일 서산동부시장을 찾아 "재래시장 활성화를 열심히 하겠다"고 밝혔다고 대통령실이 전했다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오후 충남 서산비행장에서 열다섯 번째 국민과 함께하는 민생토론회를 주재 후 서산동부시장을 방문해 이같이 말했다고 김수경 대통령실 대변인이 전했다.
이번 방문은 대선 후보 시절인 지난 2022년 2월 이후 2년 만이다. 지난 1956년 처음 개장한 서산동부시장은 충남 서북부 지역 최대 규모 전통시장이다.
윤 대통령은 시장 상인회장 안내로 여러 점포를 돌며 "서산이 먹을 게 많다, 해산물이 좋은 게 너무 많다"며 특산물인 감태·황태포·꼬막·꽃게 등을 구매했다.
또 상인들 애로 사항을 듣고 시장을 찾은 시민들과도 소통하면서 전통시장 번영·민생 안정을 위한 충남 경제 활성화 관련 의지를 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 한 수산물 가게에서 붕장어 회를 시식 후 "아나고가 경남·부산에만 있는 줄 알았더니 서해에도 있다"며 "오늘 시장을 다 다녀야 하는데 여기서 잡혔다. 먹어본 아나고 중 이렇게 쫄깃쫄깃한 아나고는 처음 먹어본다"고 말했다.
한 족발 가게 앞에선 '윤석열 대통령님 환영합니다' 플래카드를 들고 있는 아이들에게 다가가 쓰다듬고 안아준 후 무릎굽혀 사진을 찍은 한편 시장 아이들과 튀김집에서 오징어 튀김을 먹었다.
또 김 가게에선 김 양식을 주제로 이야기를 나누다 감태·김 등을 시식하며 "향이 너무 좋다. 공깃밥 한 그릇 있으면 그냥. 이게 서천에서 온 것이냐. 많이 파시라. 재래시장 활성화를 열심히 하겠다"고 말했다.
