이종철 철학박사(전 연세대 교수)는 지난 2월25일자 페이스 북에 "페이스 북 예찬론"이란 제목의 글을 올렸다. '에세이 철학'으로 철학의 대중화 영역을 넓힌 철학자이다.
필자 역시 '페이스 북'에 자주 글을 올리는 '페북맨'으로서 이종철 박사의 글 논지에 찬성-찬동한다.
이종철 박사는 이 글에서 "내가 새로운 플랫폼으로 활동의 중심을 옮긴다 해도 이곳 페이스 북은 절대 끊을 수 없을 것 같다. 오랜 교류 속에 쌓은 이곳의 소중한 인맥은 달리 끊을 수도 없고, 떨어질 수도 없다. 과거에는 너무 페이스 북을 자주 드나들어서 내가 페북 중독에 걸린 것이 아닐까 하고 사용 중단을 고려해본 적도 있었다."면서 "하지만 지금은 중독보다 무서운 일상이 되어서 감히 이런 일상을 떠나 새로운 삶을 생각하는 것 자체가 힘들 정도"라고 피력했다.
이어, 이종철 박사는 "이 공간은 나에게는 참으로 애정이 담겨 있는 고향 동네나 다름없게 느껴진다. 10년의 세월이 흐르면서 함께 늙어가는 벗님들을 바라보면서 나의 모습도 세월따라 달라지는 것을 확인하기도 한다. 아마도 이런 공간이 있기 때문에 거칠고 황량한 인간 세상 속에서 살아갈 의미도 느끼고 힘도 얻는 것이 아닐까라는 생각도 든다. 내가 10년을 열심히 페이스 북에 글을 썼지만 돈 한푼 벌지 못했다고 푸념하기도 했지만, 아마도 돈이 개입하지 않았기 때문에 이곳의 인간 관계에서 정들을 더 느끼고 더 오래 지속되는지 모른다. AI가 날로 새로운 무기로 무장하면서 창궐하고 있어도 이곳의 생태계 안으로 쉽게 파고 들거나 쉽게 바꾸지는 못할 것"이라고 단언하면서 "이 공간은 그런 의미에서 과거에도 그랬지만 격변하는 미래에도 소중한 공간으로 남을 것이다. 다시 고백하건대, 페이스 북은 참 좋은 곳이다!"라고 덧붙였다.

필자의 페이스 북 관(觀)은 "종합적인 소통도구"라는 시각이다. 그 어떤 내용이라 해도, 내 사고의 결과물이기 때문에, 이런 사고(생각)들이 한군데 모아지고, 또는 스마트폰으로 아주 쉽게 소통하면서, 지구촌에 다양함을 구축한다는 견해를 갖고 있다.
