브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= bhc그룹은 대학생 봉사 단체 ‘BSR 봉사단’이 하천 환경정화를 위한 봉사활동을 펼쳤다고 14일 밝혔다.
BSR 봉사단 8기 1조는 지난 12일 서울 동대문구 소재의 중랑천 일대를 찾아 잡초 제거와 각종 생활 쓰레기 수거, 수질 개선을 위한 EM 흙공 던지기 등 하천 정화 활동을 진행했다.
이번 봉사는 환경보호의 중요성을 알리고 깨끗한 도심 환경을 조성하는 데 도움이 되고자 기획됐다. 이날 단원들은 중랑천을 따라 걸으며 플로깅(조깅하며 쓰레기 줍기)과 함께 사전에 준비한 미생물(EM) 흙공을 하천 곳곳에 던져 중랑천을 깨끗하게 만드는 활동을 전개했다.
‘EM(Effective Micro-organisms) 흙공’은 수십 종의 유용한 미생물이 들어있는 EM 용액과 황토를 배합한 것으로, 강이나 하천에 투입되면 서서히 녹으면서 수질이 정화되고 악취가 제거돼 오염된 하천을 살리고 생태 환경을 회복하는데 큰 도움을 주는 것으로 알려져 있다.
한편, BSR 봉사단은 bhc그룹이 2017년부터 운영해오고 있는 대학생 봉사 단체로, 현재 8기 단원들이 활동을 이어가고 있다. BSR 봉사단 8기는 한 해 동안 월 2회씩 단원들이 직접 기획한 내용으로 지역 사회 곳곳에 도움이 필요한 곳을 찾아 봉사활동을 지속적으로 전개해나갈 예정이다.
