최민호 세종특별자치시장이 14일 아이다 이스마일로바(Aida Ismailova) 주한 키르기즈공화국(키르기즈스탄) 대사를 만나 환담을 갖고 지방정부 간 협력 방안을 논의했다고 밝혔다.
이번 면담은 세종시의 성공적인 신도시 건설 사례를 키르기즈공화국에 전하고 지방정부 간 협력을 강화하기 위해 마련됐다.
이날 자리에는 ‘세종 글로벌리더’로 선발된 키르기즈 정부 디지털개발부 공무원들이 참석해 세종시 주요 정책을 국제적으로 홍보하는 방안을 함께 논의했다.
‘세종 글로벌리더’는 해외공공부문 우수 인적자원 유치를 위해 한국개발연구원(KDI)국제정책대학원 국제학생학위과정 유학생 중 공무원·공공기관 종사자 출신을 세종시 장학생으로 선발해 연수비를 지원하는 프로그램이다.
면담 이후 아이다 이스마일로바 주한 키르기즈공화국 대사는 시청 1층 홍보관, 4층 책문화센터를 방문해 세종시 도시 발전 역사를 이해하는 시간을 가졌다.
최민호 시장은 “한국 경제학을 전공하고 한국어가 능통한 주한 키르기즈공화국 대사의 세종시 첫 방문은 의미가 크다”며 “양국과 지방정부 간 한글문화 부문에서 긴밀한 협력이 기대된다”고 말했다.
키르기즈공화국은 인구 690만 명 규모의 나라로, 티엔샨 산맥의 봉우리, 이식쿨 호수 등 천혜의 자연경관을 보유하고 있어 중앙아시아의 스위스로 불린다.
