브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 신한라이프는 지난 17일 서울시 한강공원 잠원지구에 ‘빛나는숲 4호’ 조성을 위한 임직원 봉사활동을 진행했다고 20일 밝혔다.
빛나는숲 조성 사업은 신한라이프가 탄소중립을 실천하고 기후 변화에 대응하기 위해 나무를 심고 가꿔 환경을 보존하는 활동으로 2021년부터 임직원들의 참여로 전개되고 있다.
이날 봉사활동에는 임직원 30여명이 참여해 잠원지구 일대 약 590평 규모의 토지에 황매화, 조팝나무 등 약 1200그루의 나무를 식재했다. 유휴지에 나무를 심고 자연을 되살려 도시 미관을 향상시킬 뿐 아니라 공원을 찾는 시민들에게 아름다운 휴식공간도 제공하게 된다.
앞서 신한라이프는 서울시 안양천을 시작으로 강원도 홍천군 산불 피해지역, 서울시 양천구 오목공원 등을 포함해 총 1만 500여 그루의 나무를 심어오는 등 생물다양성 보존과 생태계 복원을 위한 활동을 꾸준하게 이어왔다.
봉사활동에 참여한 한 직원은 “오늘 심은 나무가 미래세대를 위한 울창한 숲이 된다는 생각에 더 보람되고 뜻 깊은 시간이었다”며 “일상에서의 작은 실천이 모여 환경을 지켜나가는 큰 힘이 되도록 다양한 노력을 기울이겠다”고 말했다.
