윤석열 대통령이 30일 "2032년 달에 우리 탐사선을 착륙시키고 2045년 화성에 태극기를 꽂기 위한 '스페이스 광개토 프로젝트'를 추진할 것"이라고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오후 경남 사천 우주항공청 임시청사서 열린 개청식·제1차 국가우주위원회에 참석해 축사에서 "오늘은 대한민국이 우주를 향해 비상하는 날"이라며 이같이 말하며 최근 개청한 우주항공청을 통해 우주 개척시대를 이끌겠다고 밝혔다.
