KT&G가 금융감독원으로부터 ‘XBRL 재무공시 우수법인’에 선정됐다.
30일 KT&G에 따르면 KT&G는 지난해 사업보고서 공시에서 XBRL(eXtensible Business Reporting Language)에 기반한 재무 공시를 성실히 수행해, 국내외 투자자를 위한 정보 접근성과 회계 투명성을 제고하고 자본시장 국제화 등에 기여한 노력을 인정받았다.
XBRL은 기업 재무정보의 생성·보고·분석 등을 용이하게 하기 위해 만들어진 재무 보고용 국제표준 전산 언어를 말한다.
해당 방식을 공시에 적용하면 재무제표와 상세설명이 데이터화 돼 기업 분석이 쉬워지고, 외국인 투자자도 영문으로 자동 번역된 공시 내용을 확인할 수 있게 된다.
앞서 금융감독원은 지난해부터 자산 2조원 이상 상장회사에 XBRL 도입을 의무화한 바 있다.
KT&G는 금융감독원의 국제표준 전산 언어 의무 도입에 앞선 2022년 사업보고서 공시부터 XBRL을 선제 적용하기 위한 준비를 이어왔다.
또, 금융감독원은 KT&G의 회계 실무자를 향후 XBRL 재무공시와 관련한 가이드라인 제정 및 제도 발전에 기여할 민간 자문위원으로 위촉하기도 했다.
박경신 KT&G IR센터장은 “회사는 글로벌 스탠더드에 부합하는 공시 이행으로 주주 및 투자자를 포함한 이해관계자 소통을 강화하고 있다”며, “앞으로도 투명 공시를 통한 재무 신뢰성을 바탕으로 회사의 미래비전인 ‘글로벌 톱 티어’ 달성을 위한 재무적 노력을 이어갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.

KT&G was recognized for its efforts to faithfully perform financial disclosures based on XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) in last year's business report disclosure, improving information accessibility and accounting transparency for domestic and foreign investors, and contributing to the internationalization of the capital market.
XBRL is an international standard computer language for financial reporting created to facilitate the creation, reporting, and analysis of corporate financial information.
If this method is applied to disclosure, financial statements and detailed explanations will be converted into data, making corporate analysis easier, and foreign investors will also be able to check the disclosure contents automatically translated into English.
Previously, the Financial Supervisory Service had mandated the introduction of XBRL for listed companies with assets of 2 trillion won or more since last year.
KT&G has been preparing to preemptively apply XBRL from the announcement of its 2022 business report ahead of the Financial Supervisory Service's mandatory introduction of international standard computer language.
In addition, the Financial Supervisory Service appointed KT&G's accounting practitioners as private advisory committee members who will contribute to the establishment of guidelines and system development related to XBRL financial disclosure in the future.
Park Kyeong-shin, head of KT&G IR Center, said, “The company is strengthening communication with stakeholders, including shareholders and investors, by implementing disclosures that comply with global standards.” He added, “We will continue to pursue the company’s future vision of becoming a ‘global leader’ based on financial reliability through transparent disclosures. “We will continue our financial efforts to achieve the ‘tier’,” he said.
