윤석열 대통령이 18일 대한의사협회 집단휴진 관련해 "정부는 국민 생명·건강을 지킬 책무가 있는 만큼 환자를 저버린 불법행위에 대해 엄정 대처할 수밖에 없다"고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오전 용산 대통령실에서 열린 제27회 국무회의 모두발언에서 "매우 안타깝고 유감스럽게 생각한다"며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 "어제 일부 의대 교수들 집단 휴진이 있었고, 오늘은 의사협회 불법적 진료 거부가 진행되고 있다"며 "국민이 동의 않고 실현도 불가능한 주장을 고집"한다고 비판했다.
또 "매우 안타깝고 유감스럽게 생각한다"며 "진정한 의료개혁을 이루려면 뭣보다 의료 현장 의견이 중요하고 의료계 참여가 반드시 필요하다"고 말했다.
이어 "국민이 동의 않고 실현도 불가능한 주장을 고집하면 모두가 피해자가 될 수밖에 없다"며 "환자 생명·건강을 위협하는 극단적 방식 아닌 사회적 협의체 의료개혁특위에 참여해 의견을 내주시길 바란다"고 요청했다.
더불어 "의대생·전공의 여러분께도 호소한다"며 "여러분 존재 이유인 환자들 고통·아픔을 저버리는 집단행동은 개인적 국가적으로도 결코 바람직하지 않다"고 말했다.
윤 대통령은 "정부는 여러분이 학업·수련을 제대로 이어갈 수 있도록 필요한 모든 조치를 다할 것"이라며 "이제라도 복귀해 의견을 내면 여러분 목소리를 경청하고 여러분과 함께 길을 찾겠다"고 말했다.
