브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 농협중앙회는 농협사업의 국민경제 및 조합원실익 기여도를 객관적으로 평가하기 위해 2023년 12월부터 5개월간 고려대학교 산학협력단에 의뢰해 연구용역을 진행했다고 밝혔다.
연구결과, 농협의 사업은 국가 연관산업의 발달을 촉진해 국민경제에 총 58조8000억 원 규모의 부가가치 창출에 기여한 것으로 조사됐다. 이는 우리나라 국내총생산(GDP)의 약 3% 수준이며, 107만 명의 일자리도 창출한 것으로 나타났다.
또한, 농협은 농축산물 유통·판매사업에 참여해 가격협상력을 높여 농업인과 소비자에게 20조6000억 원 수준의 경제적 이익을 제공했다. 영농자재 공동구매사업, 상호금융 등 사업부문에서는 농업인 조합원들에게 보다 나은 가격조건을 제공하여 6조3000억 원의 실익 증대에 기여했다.
강호동 농협중앙회장은 “농촌소멸 위기 등 어려운 여건 속에 앞으로 농협의 역할은 더 중요해질 것”이라며 “농업인 실익증진과 국민경제 균형발전에 더욱 기여할 수 있도록 농협 사업에 변화와 혁신을 더해 새로운 대한민국 농협을 만들어 나가겠다”고 전했다.
