윤석열 대통령이 페트르 피알라 체코 총리 초청으로 오는 9월 중 편한 시기 체코를 방문 예정이라고 대통령실이 23일 전했다.
대통령실은 이날 오후 보도자료에서 윤 대통령이 피알라 총리와의 전화 통화에서 원전 분야를 비롯 양국 간 실질 협력 방안에 대해 의견을 교환했다며 이같이 전했다.
피알라 총리는 원전 프로젝트의 성공적 추진·양국 간 경제 협력 심화 방안 논의를 위해 윤 대통령을 체코로 초청했고, 윤 대통령은 이같은 제안에 응했다.
윤 대통령은 먼저 체코 두코바니 원전 입찰에서 한국수력원자원(한수원)이 우선협상대상자로 선정된 것에 사의를 표한 후 "앞으로의 후속 조치를 위해 고위급으로 구성된 정부 대표단을 파견했다"며 "이번 체코 원전 사업은 양국 모두 원전 사업 역량이 획기적으로 증강되는 계기가 될 것이며 원전 르네상스 시대를 맞아 앞으로 양국이 함께 손잡고 세계시장으로 진출해 나가자"고 말했다.
이에 피알라 총리는 "한수원이 체코 신규 원전 건설 우선협상대상자로 선정된 걸 축하한다"며 "신규 원전은 체코 에너지 안보 확보·산업 경쟁력 강화를 위한 중요 전기가 될 것"이라고 말했다.
그러면서 "이번 협력을 통해 양국의 강력한 전략적 파트너십이 더욱 공고해질 걸로 기대한다"고 덧붙였다.
양 정상은 이번 원전 사업을 계기로 양국 간 협력을 교역·투자·첨단산업 전반으로 확대해 한·체코 간 전략적 동반자 관계를 더 심화시켜 나가기로 했다.
