세종시가 교육발전특구 시범지역으로 지정됐다.
세종시는 30일 세종교육청과 공동으로 교육발전특구 시범지역 2차 지정 공모’에 신청한 결과 2차 시범지역으로 최종 지정됐다고 밝혔다.
앞서 시와 교육청은 ‘세계로 나아가는 미래 교육도시, 세종’을 공동 비전으로 온마을이 함께하는 늘봄체제 구축, 디지털 기반 교육혁신, 지역정주형 인재양성 생태계 조성 등 9개 중점 과제를 중심으로 교육발전 전략을 구축·제시했다.
교육발전특구 시범지역으로 지정됨에 따라 시는 미래전략산업 중 바이오헬스, 미래 모빌리티와 연계해 세종 미래고를 협약형 특성화고로 지정해 대학과 산업체로 이어지는 진학·취업 체계를 마련할 것으로 알려졌다.
현장 연계 교육과정도 개발·운영해 지역 내 취업과 정착을 유도하는 등 지역인재 육성에도 주력할 방침이다.
또 올해부터 입주하는 공동캠퍼스의 정주 여건을 지원하고 정보통신기술(ICT)과 인공지능(AI) 관련 창의 인재를 양성해 기회발전특구로 유치된 기업들과의 공동연구도 추진한다.
시는 앞으로 교육부의 컨설팅을 통해 사업 운영 계획을 구체화하고 지난 5월 구성한 지역협력체를 활용, 진행 상황을 점검하는 등 체계적으로 성과관리를 해 나갈 계획이다.
최민호 시장은 “교육발전특구 지정을 통해 지역과 교육이 함께 성장할 수 있는 기회가 마련됐다”며 “지역인재가 지역에 정주할 수 있는 기반을 구축해 청년 유출, 저출산 등의 문제를 해결하며 세종 교육발전특구가 대한민국의 모범적 사례로 거듭나도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
