윤석열 대통령이 23일 재일 한국계 민족학교 교토국제고가 일본전국고교야구선수권대회(고시엔)에서 첫 우승한 것에 대해 "열악한 여건에서 이뤄낸 기적같은 쾌거"라며 축하했다.
윤 대통령은 이날 페이스북에 "'동해 바다 건너서 야마도 땅은 거룩한 우리 조상 옛적 꿈자리..' 교토국제고 한국어 교가가 고시엔 결승전 구장에 힘차게 울려 퍼졌다"며 "교토국제고의 고시엔 우승을 진심으로 축하한다"고 적었다.
그러면서 "열악한 여건에서 이뤄낸 기적같은 쾌거는 재일동포들에게 자긍심·용기를 안겨주었다"며 "야구를 통해 한·일 양국이 더욱 가까워졌으면 좋겠다"고 했다.
