[브레이크뉴스경기남부=시흥 이현준기자] 시흥시가 ‘2024년 시흥시 인구 포럼’을 개최했다.
지난 4일 시청 글로벌센터에서 ‘인구구조 변화에 대응하는 시흥시의 인구전략’이라는 주제로 열렸으며, 시흥시의 인구변화를 분석하고, 이에 따른 대응 전략을 수립하기 위해 마련됐다.

포럼의 기조 강연을 맡은 한양대학교 국제학대학원의 전영수 교수는 ‘인구 위기를 기회로, 인구를 알아야 내일이 있다’라는 주제로 인구 변화가 미치는 사회경제적 영향과 미래 대응 전략을 제시했다. 이어서 장인수 한국보건사회연구원 부연구위원은 ‘인구구조 변화에 따른 시흥시의 역할과 정책 방향’을 발표하며 시흥시의 인구구조 변화 사례를 분석하고, 시흥시 맞춤형 인구전략을 제안했다.
토론 시간에는 오연주 대림대학교 교수, 최영미 한양대학교 글로벌다문화연구원 연구위원, 유정균 경기연구원 인구영향평가센터장, 이상훈 시흥시의회 의원, 고일웅 시흥대야종합복지관 관장이 각 분야 전문가 패널로 참여했다.
이들은 저출생 문제, 외국인ㆍ다문화 정책, 고령화 사회 대응 방안, 청년 정책, 1인 가구 정책 등 시흥시의 특성에 맞춘 인구정책을 주제로 심도 있는 논의를 펼쳤다. 또한 시민 질의응답 시간을 통해 시민들이 바라는 인구정책에 대한 다양한 의견을 공유했다.
시 관계자는 “이번 포럼에서 수렴한 다양한 의견을 바탕으로 실질적인 인구정책을 수립해 시흥시의 미래를 대비할 것”이라며 “앞으로도 인구구조 변화에 선제적으로 대응하기 위해 지속적인 노력을 기울이겠다”라고 전했다.
