【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=동국대 WISE캠퍼스의 CAMPUS Asia-AIMS 사업단은 지난 9월3일부터 5일까지 파트너 대학인 말레이시아 공과대학(UTM: Universiti Teknologi Malaysia)의 재학생 20명과 교수 2명을 초청하여 ‘Academic Visit 2024: 힙한불교와 스마트관광’을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 프로그램은 해외의 젊은 세대에게 새로운 방식으로 불교 문화를 소개하고, 컴퓨터공학과와 호텔관광 분야의 적극적인 융합 연구를 통해 스마트 관광의 미래를 제시하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.
이번 초청 프로그램에서는 말레이시아 공과대학의 컴퓨터 공학과 학부생들이 동국대 호텔관광경영학과 학생들과 함께 불국사를 방문하여 한국 불교 문화를 경험하고, 이를 바탕으로 전통과 현대를 결합한 새로운 관점의 힙한 불교 전파 방식을 함께 탐구하였다. 또한, 호텔관광산업에서 데이터 활용의 중요성이 날고 증가하고 있는 만큼 K-불교관광 분야의 데이터를 활용한 글로벌 케이스 스터디를 함께 진행하며 디지털 기술과 관광 산업의 융합 가능성을 모색했다.
CAMPUS Asia-AIMS 사업은 교육부가 한-아세안 대학 간 학점 상호인정, 공동 커리큘럼 개발 및 운영, 학술교류 등을 통해 아세안 지역 전문가 양성 및 대학 간 학술교류를 위해 추진하는 사업이다. 이번 학술 교류는 파트너 대학 학부생들과의 협력을 통해 말레이시아 학생들이 동국대 대학원 진학을 고려할 수 있는 동기를 제공하며, AIMS 프로그램에 참여 중인 학생들의 융합 전공 능력을 강화하는 데에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
말레이시아 공과대학 컴퓨터 공학과 NURFAZRINA BINTI MOHD ZAMRY 교수는 “UTM은 말레이시아의 대표적인 공과대학로 지속적인 혁신과 글로벌 협력에 중접을 두며 공학, 기술, 경영, 건축 등의 다양한 학문 분야에서 우수한 교육을 제공하고 있다며, “이번 기회로 동국대 호텔관광경영학과와 함께하는 융합 프로그램을 통해 학생들의 글로벌 경쟁력을 높이는데 시너지 효과를 기대한다.” 라고 말했다.
동국대 WISE캠퍼스 권주경 ‘CAMPUS Asia-AIMS’ 사업단장은 “이번 프로그램은 한국과 말레이시아 대학생들이 함께 협력하며 불교 문화와 스마트 관광을 탐구하는 중요한 기회가 될 것” 이라며 “글로벌 시대에 맞는 창의적이고 융합적인 인재양성을 위해 노력할 것“ 이라고 전했다.

Dongguk University WISE Campus Hosts ‘Academic Visit 2024: Hip Buddhism and Smart Tourism’
Dongguk University WISE Campus’ CAMPUS Asia-AIMS Business Group announced that it invited 20 students and 2 professors from its partner university, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), to host ‘Academic Visit 2024: Hip Buddhism and Smart Tourism’ from September 3 to 5.
This program aims to introduce Buddhist culture to the young generation overseas in a new way and suggest the future of smart tourism through active convergence research in computer engineering and hotel tourism.
In this invitation program, undergraduate students from the Department of Computer Engineering at UTM Malaysia visited Bulguksa Temple with students from Dongguk University’s Department of Hotel and Tourism Management to experience Korean Buddhist culture and explore a hip Buddhist propagation method that combines tradition and modernity based on this. In addition, as the importance of data utilization in the hotel and tourism industry is increasing, we conducted a global case study utilizing data in the K-Buddhist tourism sector and explored the possibility of convergence between digital technology and the tourism industry.
The CAMPUS Asia-AIMS project is a project promoted by the Ministry of Education to foster experts in the ASEAN region and promote academic exchanges between universities through mutual recognition of credits between Korea and ASEAN universities, joint curriculum development and operation, and academic exchanges. This academic exchange is expected to provide Malaysian students with motivation to consider attending Dongguk University’s graduate school through cooperation with undergraduate students from partner universities, and to contribute to strengthening the interdisciplinary major capabilities of students participating in the AIMS program.
Professor NURFAZRINA BINTI MOHD ZAMRY of the Department of Computer Engineering at UTM Malaysia said, “UTM is a representative university of technology in Malaysia that focuses on continuous innovation and global cooperation, and provides excellent education in various academic fields such as engineering, technology, management, and architecture. He added, “We expect a synergy effect in enhancing the global competitiveness of students through this interdisciplinary program with Dongguk University’s Department of Hotel and Tourism Management.”
Dongguk University WISE Campus ‘CAMPUS Asia-AIMS’ Business Group Director Kwon Joo-kyung said, “This program will be an important opportunity for Korean and Malaysian university students to collaborate and explore Buddhist culture and smart tourism,” adding, “We will strive to foster creative and convergent talents fit for the global era.”
