대통령실이 9일 윤석열 대통령이 전날 국민의 힘 일부 최고위원·수도권 중진 의원 등과의 비공개 만찬에서 의료 개혁 관련 의견을 경청했다고 전했다.
대통령실 관계자는 이날 오후 용산 대통령실에서 취재진과 만나 "어제 오후 4시 수도권 중진 의원이 (윤 대통령에) 번개를 요청해 몇몇 의원들과 함께 2시간 가량 관저(한남동)에서 만찬했다"며 이렇게 밝혔다.
그러면서 "참석자 중 한 명은 의사 출신 인요한 국민의 힘 최고위원이었다"며 "인 최고위원이 의료 개혁 관련 상세한 의료계 상황을 말했고 대통령이 경청했다"고 전했다.
또 "대통령은 비공개로 의원뿐 아닌 지자체장·정치인과 모임을 자주 하면서 민심을 청취하며 많은 얘기를 들으신다"며 "1대 1로도 하시고 여러 명과도 하시고 차도 마시면서 자주 소통하신다 보면 된다"고 전했다.
이어 향후 한동훈 국민의 힘 대표·지도부와 만찬 관련해선 "추석 이후 만찬이 진행될 것이며 체코 방문 이후 계획하고 있다 보면 될 것 같다"고 전했다.
윤 대통령은 만찬에서 "응급 의료진에 대한 보상이 잘 갖춰졌음 좋겠다"고 말한 것으로 전해졌다.
앞서 지난달 30일 윤 대통령은 국민의 힘 지도부를 모두 초청해 만찬을 하기로 했으나 추석 이후로 연기된 가운데 전날 한남동 만찬에도 한 대표·김종혁·장동혁·진종오 최고위원 등은 참석않은 것으로 전해졌다.
의대 정원 증원 관련해선 이날 대한의사협회가 발표한 '대국민 호소문'에서 제안한 '2025년 포함 모든 증원 취소'에 대해 "2025년 증원 유예는 현실적으로 어렵고 불가능하다"고 밝혔다.
이어 "2025년 의대 정원 유예 경우 오늘부터 수시 접수를 시작하고 교육부에서도 대혼란을 야기할 수 있어 어렵다는 입장을 밝혔다"며 "다만 그 이후는 의료계가 과학적 근거를 갖춘 합리적 제안을 한다면 (2000명이란) 숫자에 구애받지 않고 제로베이스에서 열린 마음으로 논의하겠다는 입장"이라고 말했다.
또 "시·도지사들도 정부 의료개혁을 지지하고 의료계가 열린 마음으로 유연하게 나와달라 호소하지 않았나"며 "하루빨리 의료계가 대화 테이블에 나와달란 입장"이라고 강조했다.
제3자 추천 방식 '채해병 특검법'이 야당 단독으로 국회 법제사법위원회 법안심사 소위를 통과한 데 대해선 "경찰 수사 결과·청문회를 통해 외압 근거가 없었다 밝혀졌는데 또 특검법을 발의해 국민들이 피곤해 할 것"이라며 "분칠한 제3자 특검법"이라고 비판했다.
