[브레이크뉴스경기남부=안산 이현준기자] 안산시가 2024년 민선8기 공약 이행 점검을 위해 시민배심원35명을 신규 위촉했다.
시민배심원제는 안산시장 공약의 이행 현황 점검 과정에서 시민이 직접 참여해 조정이 필요한 공약의 적정 여부를 심의·평가하고 개선 방안을 도출함으로써 공약사업에 대한 객관성과 투명성을 높이고 시민의 목소리를 정책에 담고자 도입됐다.
이는 지난달 23일 시와 산하기관 11곳이 함께 윤리경영 종합비전을 수립해 ▲공정하고 투명한 업무수행 ▲시민 존중과 무한책임 ▲미래세대를 위한 지속 가능한정책을 펼치겠다는 윤리경영 START*의 일환으로 추진한 것이다.
신규 위촉된 시민배심원단은 지난 8월 한국매니페스토실천본부에서 성별·지역별·연령별 인구를 고려해 무작위 추첨(ARS)과 전화 면접으로 최종 선발됐다. 이는 기존과 달리 배심원 선정 과정의 투명성과 객관성을 확보하기 위함이다.
지난 9일 시청 대회의실에서 35명의 시민배심원에 대한 위촉식과 함께 ▲매니페스토 운동과 시민배심원의 역할에 대한 교육 ▲분과 구성 등의 순으로 진행됐다. 이들은 다음 달 7일까지 2차례 회의 및 분과 활동을 거쳐 공약사업 중 정책환경의 변화 등에 따라 조정이 필요한 부분에 대해 심의해 조정·권고안을 도출할 예정이다.
