장상윤 대통령실 사회수석은 이날 오전 SBS 인터뷰에서 "당에서 연락하고 저도 직접 통화하는데 여기(협의체)에 논의해보겠다는 분들이 있고, 다는 아니지만"이라며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 "참여 의향을 밝힌 단체들부터라도 일단 들어와 논의를 시작하고 국민들이 주목한다면 어떤 동력이 되지 않을까 생각한다"며 "당사자인 전공의·의대생들이 대표해 들어온다면 더할 나위 없는 구조가 될 것이고 동력이 되지 않을까 생각한다"고 말했다.
또 '전공의 이탈 장기화에 따른 국민 피로도가 높아진다'는 질의에 "과거 전례를 볼때 장기화를 가정하고 대비해왔고 플랜B·C도 미리미리 준비해두고 대비하고 있다"며 "여기서 다시 뒤 돌아가면 개혁은 물거품이 되며 개혁을 하면서도 대화 문을 열어놓고 문제 해결방안들을 서로 찾아가고 있다"고 말했다.

더불어 현 의료 상황에 대해 "평시가 100%라면 중환자실 입원율 같은 경우 지금 88%까지 올라와 있다"며 "온전하진 않으나 어느 정도 이렇게 회복돼가고 있다"고 진단했다.
장 수석은 '응급실 뺑뺑이' 관련해 과거 의사증원 필요성 등을 언급한 언론 보도를 들면서 "응급실 뺑뺑이가 전공의 이탈로 인해 지금 발생한 것이냐"며 "물론 거기에 어려움을 더한 건 사실이나 구조적 문제였다"고 지적했다.
