이번 노외주차장 조성지는 총 145면 규모의 상록구 본오동 723번지(반월공원) 2,636㎡ 와 사동 1466-4번지 3,330㎡ 부지이다.
해당 지역은 다세대·다가구 주택이 밀집해 있어 평소 주·정차 민원이 끊임없이 제기되던 곳이다. 특히 무분별한 이중주차로 인해 차량 통행 불편은 물론 긴급차량의 출동을 방해해 시민들의 안전을 위협하기도 했다.
이에 안산시는 총 40억 원의 사업비를 편성, 총 145면 규모의 주차장을 조성했다. 시는 이번 주차장 조성으로 지역주민들의 민원 해소와 함께 시민들의 안전 확보에도 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
한편 시는 지난 상반기 고질적 주차난 해소를 위해 본오동과 이동 등 주거밀집 지역에 주차장 조성 사업을 진행한 바 있다.
