[브레이크뉴스경기남부=광명 이현준기자] 광명시는 광역도시철도망 기본구상 및 사전타당성조사 용역 착수보고회를 열었다.
13일 착수보고회에는 박승원 시장과 함께 자문위원으로 홍찬표 도시공간 대표, 이호 한국교통연구원 철도교통연구본부장, 박경철 경기연구원 모빌리티연구실장, 유소영 한국철도기술연구원 교통물류체계연구실장 등이 참석했다.
이번 용역은 국토교통부와 경기도가 추진 중인 GTX D, GTX G, 그리고 광명시흥선의 광명시 경유 방안을 검토하는 것이 핵심이다.
이와 함께 철도 서비스가 미치지 않는 철산2동과 소하동 등의 철도음영지역을 해소하기 위한 신규 노선 발굴도 중요한 과제다.
유정훈 아주대학교 교수는 발표에서 “도시 균형 발전과 보편적 교통복지를 위해 철도음영지역에 대한 신규 노선 발굴이 반드시 필요하다”고 강조했다.
또한, 첨단 모빌리티와 복합 환승 활성화를 통해 광역교통체계를 개선하는 방안도 연구할 계획이다. 최근 교통수단 간 연계환승이 원활하지 않아 발생하는 비효율성을 해소하기 위해 다양한 교통수단 간의 연계를 철도망 구상 단계에서부터 고려할 방침이다.
박승원 시장은 “이번 연구를 통해 광명시가 인구 50만 핵심 거점도시에 걸맞은 철도 네트워크를 완성하겠다”며, “시민과 함께 미래 100년을 준비해 광명시가 교통, 산업, 문화 중심도시로 도약할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 다짐했다.
