축제는 오는 28일과 29일 양일간 열리며, 110만 용인시민의 자긍심을 높이고 화합을 도모하기 위한 ‘제29회 용인시민의 날 기념행사’를 비롯해 ‘제24회 용인사이버과학축제’, ‘2024 용인먹거리페스타’, ‘2024년 식품산업박람회’, ‘제4회 용인 청년 페스티벌’ 등다양한 행사가 마련돼 어린이부터 어르신까지 온 세대를 아우르는 시민들에게 다채로운 볼거리를 선사한다.
시는 시 승격을 맞아 1996년부터 매년 9월 30일을 시민의 날로 지정해 기념행사를 열고 있다. 이번 ‘용인시민의 날 기념행사’엔 반도체 산업을 중심으로 발전해 나가는 용인특례시의 미래가치를 높이고 시민 일상의 수준도 향상되길 바라는 염원을 담았다.
28일 열리는 기념식에선 용인시립청소년오케스트라의 식전 공연을 시작으로 시민 대표의 시민헌장 낭독과 기념 영상 시청, 축하 이벤트 등이 이어진다. 이어 무대에서는 제42회 대한민국연극제 홍보대사로 활약한 뮤지컬 배우 박해미와 가수 테이, 성악가 양태중, 강이슬과 에버랜드 공연팀 등이 다채로운 공연을 펼친다.

‘제24회 용인사이버과학축제’ 행사장에서는 첨단 IT기술과 과학산업의 현주소를 확인할 수 있는 다양한 체험 부스가 마련돼 과학 인재들의 방문을 기다린다.
양일간 무대에서 과학커뮤니케이터 주피터의 ‘신기한 과학실험쇼’와 마술사 류엘의 ‘매직버블쇼’, 인공지능이 출제한 퀴즈를 시민들이 푸는 ‘도전! AI골든벨’ 행사가 진행된다.
