싱가포르를 국빈 방문한 윤석열 대통령이 8일(현지시간) "아세안(ASEAN·동남아시아국가연합) 정상회의에서 정치·안보 분야에서의 전략적 공조를 강화해 나가겠다"고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 이날 싱가포르 유력 일간지 '스트레이츠 타임즈'가 공개한 '윤 대통령, 한국이 아세안 디지털 혁신의 핵심 파트너가 될 것' 제하 서면인터뷰에서 한·아세안 관계에서 가장 기대되는 성과로 지속 가능한 미래 발전을 선도할 디지털 전환 분야 협력 확대를 꼽으며 이같이 밝혔다.
그러면서 "아세안은 세계에서 가장 빠르게 성장하는 디지털 시장 중 하나"라며 "디지털 전환은 인도·태평양 지역 중요 미래 성장 동력이 될 것"이라고 밝혔다.
또 '한·아세안 디지털 혁신 플래그십' 사업을 거론하며 "아세안이 4차 산업혁명 시대를 선도할 수 있도록 기여할 것"이라며 "대한민국은 아세안 디지털 전환을 뒷받침하는 핵심 파트너로 거듭날 것"이라고 강조했다.
이어 딥페이크 등 불법 디지털 콘텐츠·마약 남용 확산 대응을 위한 정보 공유 부문에서 양국이 긴밀하게 협력해야 한다는 입장도 보였다.
윤 대통령은 "온라인 불법 콘텐츠·마약 확산이 양국에 심각한 사회 문제를 야기하고 있다"며 "한·싱가포르는 법치주의를 공유하는 만큼 엄정한 법 집행과 더불어 양국 관계 당국 간 긴밀한 정보 공유·협력 체계를 마련해 나가길 기대한다"고 했다.
그러면서 "아세안 국가와의 국방 당국 간 소통을 활성화하고 아세안 지역에서 실시되는 연합훈련에 적극 참여하며 방산 협력을 심화할 것"이라며 "아세안이 그간 단합된 목소리로 유엔 안전보장이사회 결의를 위반한 북한이 불법 핵·미사일 개발을 중단하고 조속히 대화로 복귀할 것을 촉구해 온 것을 높이 평가한다"고 밝혔다.
