라오스를 방문한 윤석열 대통령이 10일(현지시간) 패통탄 친나왓 태국 총리와 양자회담을 갖고 상호 협력 강화 의지를 다졌다.
아세안(ASEAN·동남아시아국가연합) 정상회의 참석차 라오스를 방문 중인 윤 대통령은 이날 비엔티안 국립컨벤션센터(NCC)에서 패통탄 태국 총리와 정상회담을 갖고 이같이 논의했다. 패통탄 총리는 지난달 9일 신임 태국 총리로 취임했다.
윤 대통령과 패통탄 총리는 회담에서 한·태 양국 간 교역·투자·청정에너지를 비롯 포괄적 협력 발전 방향 등을 논의했다.
윤 대통령은 "교역·투자·전기차·국방·방산·인적교류를 비롯 폭넓은 분야에서 협력을 획기적으로 강화해 나가길 바란다"며 "올해 협상을 개시한 한·태 경제동반자협정 및 한·태 합작산업단지에 관심·지원을 바란다"고 주문했다.
또 "현대자동차의 태국 내 전기차 공장 건설 등 청정에너지 분야로 양국 협력 지평이 확대되고 있어 고무적"이라며 "상호 신뢰를 바탕으로 국방·방산 협력도 더욱 강화해 나가자"고 덧붙였다.
패통탄 총리는 "국방·방산 협력 등 활발한 양국 협력 관계를 더욱 확대 발전시켜 나가자"며 "신임 총리로서 최선 노력을 다할 것"이라고 화답했다.
그러면서 "한·태 경제 동반자 협정이 조속히 협상·발효되도록 노력하겠다"며 "전기차 등 분야에서의 한국 기업에 대한 지원에 지속 힘쓰겠고, 소프트파워 강국 한국과 문화 분야 교류 협력도 더욱 강화하길 희망한다"고 밝혔다.
또 양 정상은 '한·아세안 포괄적 전략동반자 관계'가 수립돼 한·아세안 협력 강화의 든든한 토대가 마련된 것을 환영했다.
윤 대통령은 "태국이 한·아세안 대화조정국으로서 한·아세안 협력 강화에 중요 역할을 해주길 바란다"고 했고, 패통탄 총리는 "한·아세안 간 전략·실질적 협력을 확대해 나가는 데 긴밀히 협력하겠다"고 화답했다.
