【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=동국대학교 WISE(와이즈)캠퍼스 건학위원회(위원장 류완하 총장)는 11월 12일 교내 문무관에서 ‘2024 WISE Young Camp - Festival with Buddhism’(이하 영캠프)를 개최한다.

학교측에 따르면 이번 행사에서는 1천7백여 명의 재학생 청년 불자들과 함께하는 단체 수계법회가 진행된다. 학교법인 동국대학교 이사장 돈관 스님을 전계대화상으로 모시고, 법인이사·감사스님, 정각원장, 불교문화대학 교강사, 불교동아리 지도법사, 학인스님 등 80여 명의 스님들이 청년들에게 단주를 전달할 예정이다.
이번 행사는 전통적인 불교의 가르침을 잃지 않으면서도, 한국음악과의 오케스트라 연주 등 불교에 공감하고 친숙하게 다가갈 수 있는 요소도 추가해 예불의식에 변화를 주었다. 또한 대형 LED 화면으로 부처님 이미지와 영상을 송출하고, 연비대신 단주를 전달하는 방식으로 청년 불자들이 공감하고 즐길 수 있는 축제의 장이 마련될 예정이다.
수계법회 이후, 어울림 한마당(2부), 뮤지션 공연(3부) 프로그램이 이어진다. 2부 어울림 한마당에서는 동아리 공연과 학생장기자랑, 불교퀴즈대회가 펼쳐진다. 이어진 3부 뮤지션 공연에서는 뉴진 스님의 디제잉 공연과 가수 하하가 무대에 올라 청년층과 함께하는 축제 분위기를 한층 고조시킬 예정이다.
한편 와이즈 영캠프는 불교동아리 회장단 학생들로 구성된 학생기획위원단이 주도한 행사로, 자승 대종사의 염원과 학교법인 동국대학교 이사장 돈관 스님의 지원으로 불교의 가르침을 널리 전하고 청년 불자들이 함께 모여 마음을 나누고 마음껏 즐길 수 있는 축제의 장을 마련하기 위해 추진됐다.

The Dongguk University WISE Campus Foundation Committee (Chairman: President Ryu Wan-ha) will hold the ‘2024 WISE Young Camp - Festival with Buddhism’ (hereinafter referred to as Young Camp) on November 12 at the Munmu Hall on campus.
According to the school, this event will feature a group ordination ceremony with 1,700 young Buddhist students. Dongguk University Foundation Chairman Monk Don-gwan will be invited as the Jeon Gye-dae Hwasang, and around 80 monks, including corporate directors, auditors, Jeonggakwon directors, Buddhist Culture University instructors, Buddhist club instructors, and Hak-in monks, will deliver danju to the young people.
This event, while maintaining the traditional Buddhist teachings, also added elements that make Buddhism more relatable and approachable, such as orchestral performances with Korean music, thereby changing the Buddhist service ritual. Meanwhile, the Wise Young Camp is an event led by the Student Planning Committee, which consists of students from the Buddhist club presidents, and was promoted with the wishes of Monk Jasung Daejongsa and the support of Monk Donkwan, the chairman of the Dongguk University Foundation, to spread the teachings of Buddhism widely and to provide a festival where young Buddhists can gather together, share their hearts, and enjoy themselves to the fullest.
