한국지체장애인협회는 11월12일 보도자료에서 “‘자랑스런 지체장애인상’은 전국 지체장애인의 권익증진과 삶의 질 향상에 노력하고, 국가와 사회발전 및 장애인 인식개선에 기여한 사람을 발굴하여 포상함으로써 장애인복지에 대한 국가와 사회의 관심을 유도하기 위한 취지로 한국지체장애인협회가 매년 전국지체장애인대회를 개최하여 수상자를 선정하고 있다”고 알렸다.
