제31차 APEC(아시아태평양 경제협력체) 정상회의 참석차 페루를 방문 중인 윤석열 대통령이 15일(현지시간) 하사날 볼키아 브루나이 국왕과 첫 정상회담을 가졌다.
윤 대통령은 이날 리마 컨벤션센터에서 하싸날 볼키아 국왕과 첫 정상회담을 갖고 양국 관계 발전 방안·국제 정세 등 관련해 의견을 교환했다.
윤 대통령은 "양국이 수교 이전부터 원유 교역·건설 사업을 통해 우정을 쌓아왔다"며 "올해 수교 40주년을 맞아 양국 관계를 한층 더 발전시켜 국방·방산·스마트시티·디지털 같은 분야로까지 협력을 확대해 나가자"고 했다.
하사날 볼키아 국왕은 "그동안 브루나이의 인프라 건설에 한국 기업들이 중요 역할을 해왔다"며 "여러 측면에서 브루나이 최적 파트너인 한국과의 긴밀한 협력을 희망한다"고 밝혔다.
양 정상은 지난달 한·아세안 정상회의 계기로 한·아세안이 수립한 '포괄적 전략 동반자 관계'를 토대로 기후변화 대응·사이버보안 역량 강화 등 아세안 차원에서의 양국 간 협력을 확대해 나가기로 했다.
