제31차 APEC(아시아태평양 경제협력체) 정상회의 참석차 페루를 방문 중인 윤석열 대통령이 15일(현지시각) 퇴임을 앞둔 조 바이든 미국 대통령과 고별 정상회담을 가졌다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오후 3시 25분께부터 35분까지 10분간 바이든 대통령과 정상회담을 가진 가운데 양 정상은 오전 APEC 제1세션 휴식 시간 중 잠시 만나 환담 후 오후 이시바 시게루 일본 총리와 함께한 한·미·일 정상회의에 이어 한·미 양자 정상회담까지 하루 세 차례 마주했다.
먼저 윤 대통령은 바이든 대통령이 재임 중 한·미동맹 강화 및 한·미·일 협력에 기여해준 것에 감사를 표한 후 "대통령 임기 전반기 중 자랑스럽게 생각하는 대부분의 외교·안보 성과가 바이든 대통령과 함께 이뤄낸 일"이라고 했다.
