원자력환경공단, 동경주 주민들과 사랑의 김장나누기 실시

【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=한국원자력환경공단(이사장 조성돈)은 지난 18일부터 27일까지 일정으로 중·저준위방폐장주변지역 농수산물 판로확보와 취약계층 지원을 위해 동경주 3개 읍·면 및공단 자원봉사자들과 사랑의 김장나눔 활동을 펼치고 있다고 22일 밝혔다.

사랑의 김장나눔은 양남면, 문무대왕면, 감포읍에서 생산된 배추 16,200포기를 구입해 지역과 공단 자원봉사자들이 절임작업을 한 후 장애인시설, 지역아동센터, 경로당 등 55개소에 전달하고 있다.

김장배추는 동경주 지역 전통에 따라 바닷물을 이용해 절임작업을 하고있으며, 김장재료인 고춧가루, 마늘 등은 방폐장 주변지역에서 생산된 재료를 활용하고 있다. 또한, 김장배추 지원사업은 방폐장 주변지역 농·수산물 판로확보는물론 농한기 일자리 창출 효과를 거두고 있다.

공단은 2016년부터 방폐물 반입시 발생하는 반입수수료를 활용해 김장배추 나누기, 출산산모 지원사업, 노인 무료급식시설 운영, 지역문화 진흥 등 방폐장 주변지역 발전에 기여하고 있다.

이와 더불어 공단 직원들로 구성된 청정누리봉사단은 사랑의 김장나누기를 비롯 사랑의 연탄배달, 집수리, 생필품 전달 등의 사회공헌활동을 펼치고 있다.

조성돈 한국원자력환경공단 이사장은 “방폐물을 안전하게 관리하면서 방폐장 유치지역 발전을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
