최상목 대통령 권한대행 경제부총리 겸 기획재정부 장관이 6일 토니 블링컨 미 국무장관을 만나 한·미동맹-한·미·일 협력·북한 문제 등 관련 의견을 나눴다. 블링컨 장관은 오는 20일 도널드 트럼프 행정부 출범에 앞서 고별 방문 차원에서 전날 밤 방한했다.
최 권한대행은 이날 오전 서울 종로구 정부서울청사에서 블링컨 장관을 접견하고 "그간 미국이 한·미동맹·한국 민주주의에 꾸준한 지지·신뢰를 보여준 데 사의를 표한다"며 "블링컨 장관 방한은 그 자체로 흔들림 없는 한·미동맹을 보여준다"고 했다.
그러면서 "굳건한 한·미동맹-한·미·일 협력을 바탕으로 외교·안보 기조를 지속 유지해 나갈 것"이라며 "한·미동맹 70주년 기념 공동성명·워싱턴 선언·한·미·일 캠프데이비드 원칙·정신 등을 통해 한·미 양국 핵심 성과들이 계속 이행되도록 최선 노력을 다하자"고 했다.

블링컨 장관은 "최근 한국 여객기 참사에 관해 미국 국민을 대표해 위로·기도를 보낸다"며 "미국은 어떤 필요한 지원도 할 준비가 돼 있다"고 말했다.
이어 "미국은 한국 친구로서 한국 민주주의 저력은 물론 최 권한대행 체제 리더십을 완전 신뢰한다"며 "미국의 한국 방위공약은 한치 흔들림도 없다"고 말했다.
또 "70년 이상 한·미동맹은 한반도·인도·태평양 지역 평화·안정 핵심축으로서 그 중요성·역할은 어느 때보다 분명하다"며 "캠프데이비드 정상회의 성과 등 한·미·일 협력을 높이 평가하고 미국으로선 성과들이 앞으로 계속 유지·확대되는데 많은 기대를 갖고 있다"고 덧붙였다.
블링컨 장관은 최 대행 예방에 이어 조태열 외교부 장관과 오찬회담을 갖고 한·미동맹-한·미·일 협력·북한 문제 등 각종 현안 등을 협의 예정이다.
