충청남도 계룡시가 현재 인구 5만 명을 넘어 7만 명의 자족도시로 도약하겠다는 야심찬 계획을 7일 발표했다.
계룡시에 따르면, 2024년 말 현재 인구는 4만6540명으로, 이는 2022년 말 4만4475명 대비 4.64% 증가한 수치다. 이러한 성과는 전국적인 인구 감소 추세 속에서도 돋보이는 결과로, 시는 이를 기반으로 다양한 발전 전략을 펼치고 있다.
시는 최근 인구 증가의 주요 원인으로 하대실 지구 공동주택 입주와 우수한 교통 여건, 그리고 전국 최우수로 평가받은 안전지수를 꼽고 있다. 특히, 안전한 도시환경이 정주 여건을 크게 개선하며 시민들에게 신뢰를 주었다는 분석이다.
