NH농협은행이 지난 18일 논산시에서 외국인 계절근로자를 위한 '함께하는 새해맞이 사랑나눔' 행사를 성황리에 개최했다고 20일 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 농협은행이 충청남도의 금융파트너로서, 한국 문화에 익숙지 않은 외국인 계절근로자들이 한국 사회에 잘 정착할 수 있도록 돕기 위한 취지에서 마련되었다.
행사에는 몽골 출신 외국인 계절근로자 50여 명이 초청되어, 한국의 전통 음식과 문화를 체험하는 시간을 가졌다. 참석자들은 쌀 400kg을 비롯한 한과, 만두 등 다양한 위문품을 받았으며, 설날 대표 음식인 떡국도 나누어 먹으며 한국의 전통적인 새해맞이 문화를 경험했다.
농협은행은 지난해 11월 충청남도청, 논산시와 함께 15개 지자체와 업무협약(MOU)을 체결, 외국인 계절근로자들의 생활 편의를 돕기 위한 다양한 프로그램을 운영하고 있다.
이 협약에 따라 농협은행은 외국인 근로자들이 금융서비스를 원활하게 이용할 수 있도록, 영업점에 통역 요원을 배치하고 급여 통장 개설 및 해외 송금 서비스 등을 제공하고 있다.
조장균 농협은행 외환사업부장은 "영농철 일손 부족 문제를 해결하는 중요한 역할을 하는 외국인 계절근로자들에게 조금이나마 도움이 되기를 바라는 마음에서 이번 행사를 기획했다"며 "앞으로도 외국인 고객들에게 보다 나은 서비스와 맞춤형 상품을 제공하기 위해 지속적으로 노력할 것"이라고 말했다.
