충남 계룡시(시장 이응우)는 12일 정월대보름을 맞아 전통 세시풍속인 ‘지신밟기’ 행사를 개최했다. 이번 행사는 계룡시립예술단 왕대백중놀이공연단(총감독 김재범)이 주관했으며, 시민의 안녕과 지역 발전을 기원하는 자리로 마련됐다.
지난 1월 15일 창단된 왕대백중놀이공연단은 단원 20여 명이 참여한 가운데 계룡시청사 앞에서 첫 지신밟기 의식을 진행했다. 흥겨운 장단과 함께 악귀를 쫓고 지신을 다스리는 전통 의식을 통해 시의 번영과 시민의 평안을 기원했다. 이후 공연단은 계룡시의회 청사로 이동해 시의회 발전과 지역의 화합을 위한 축원을 이어갔다.
이응우 계룡시장은 “왕대백중놀이공연단이 시립예술단으로 창단되어 사라져 가는 전통문화를 되살리고 계룡시의 문화적 정체성을 더욱 공고히 할 것으로 기대된다”며 “시민 모두가 함께하는 전통문화 행사가 지속될 수 있도록 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 계룡시립예술단은 오는 3월 15일 계룡문화예술의전당에서 공식 창단식을 열고 본격적인 활동을 시작할 예정이다. 앞으로 다양한 전통 공연과 문화행사를 통해 시민과 소통하며 지역 문화 발전에 기여할 계획이다.
