금산군의회(의장 김기윤)는 주민들이 직접 조례의 제정·개정·폐지에 참여할 수 있는 '주민조례청구제도'의 활성화를 위해 적극적인 홍보 활동에 나선다고 밝혔다.
주민조례청구제도는 일정 수 이상의 주민이 서명을 통해 지역에 필요한 조례를 제정하거나, 불필요한 조례를 개정 또는 폐지할 수 있는 제도로, 주민들의 의사를 정책에 직접 반영할 수 있는 수단이다.
현재까지 금산군에서는 주민조례청구 사례가 접수된 적이 없다. 이에 따라 군의회는 이러한 상황을 개선하고 주민들이 제도를 쉽게 활용할 수 있도록 다양한 경로로 홍보를 진행할 계획이다.
홍보는 신문 광고, 현수막 게시, 의회 홈페이지, SNS, 읍·면 이장회의 등을 통해 온·오프라인을 적극 활용하여 주민들에게 제도를 알리고 참여를 독려할 예정이다.
김기윤 의장은 "주민조례청구제도는 군민이 직접 입법에 참여함으로써 실질적인 지방자치를 실현할 수 있는 좋은 기회"라며 "군민들의 적극적인 관심과 참여를 통해 금산 최초의 주민조례청구 사례가 나오기를 기대한다"고 말했다.
한편, 금산군의 2025년도 주민조례청구 서명인수는 18세 이상(선거권 있는 자) 850명으로 1월 8일 공표되었다.
