[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 거창군이 농림축산식품부가 주관하는 200억 예산의 '스마트농업 육성 지구' 공모사업에서 최종 선정되는 쾌거를 이뤘다.
이번 선정으로 거창군은 첨단 스마트 농업기술을 통해 지역 원예산업을 고도화하고 청년농업인과 승계농업인의 유입을 촉진하는 발판을 마련하게 됐다.
이번 성과는 공모에 대비해 추진한 농업기술센터 조직개편, 신성범 국회의원과 경상남도 농정국과의 유기적 협력을 통해 이루어진 것으로 평가된다.
특히 거창군은 공모 심사 과정에서 청년 정착에 대한 정책과 지역 스마트농업 확산 방안을 구체적으로 제시해 높은 점수를 받았다.
농식품부는 청년농업인 육성을 위한 스마트농업 확산과 고도화를 국정과제로 선정하고 2029년까지 전국 온실 5만5,000ha의 35%를 스마트팜으로 전환하고 주요 밭작물 주산지 재배면적의 20%에 스마트농업 기술을 적용하는 것을 목표로 추진하고 있다.

본 사업은 총예산 200억 규모로 첨단 ICT 기술을 활용해 농업 생산성과 품질을 향상하고 농업 경영의 효율성을 높이는 것을 목표로 한다.
거창군은 이번 사업을 통해 2027년까지 스마트팜 5ha를 조성해 청년 농업인의 초기 투자 비용 부담을 줄이고 창업 자본금 확보를 위해 장기 임대할 예정이다.
