해양수산부가 주관한 ‘스마트양식 클러스터 조성사업’ 공모에서 충남 당진시가 최종 선정되었다고 17일 발표했다.
이번 선정으로 당진시는 국비 220억 원, 도비 54억 원, 시비 126억 원 등 총 400억 원의 사업비를 확보하게 되었다.
2025년부터 시작되는 이 사업은 석문 간척지에 정보통신기술(ICT)을 활용한 첨단 스마트양식 클러스터를 조성하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.
당진시는 이번 스마트양식 클러스터 조성사업 외에도 2024년부터 추진 중인 스마트 양식단지(200억 원)와 2024년 8월 예비타당성 조사 대상에 선정된 수산 식품 클러스터(1,900억 원)와의 연계를 통해 석문 간척지에 대규모 친환경 수산 종합 단지를 조성할 계획이다.
이러한 프로젝트들은 연관 산업의 집적화를 통해 생산, 가공, 유통을 통합하여 수산단지의 시너지 효과를 극대화할 예정이다.
스마트양식 클러스터에서는 바다송어와 같은 냉수성 어종을 양식할 계획이며, 양식 과정에서 발생하는 부산물과 바다송어의 정소에서 추출한 바이오 물질인 폴리데옥시리보뉴클레오티드(PDRN)와 같은 고부가가치 제품을 생산하고 가공하여 반려동물 사료, 비료, 오메가-3 오일 등을 개발할 예정이다.
당진시는 이러한 사업을 통해 지역 경제 활성화와 함께 지속 가능한 수산업 발전에 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
