충남 보령시가 새해 들어 대가족들의 잇따른 이주 소식으로 활기를 띠고 있다고 17일 밝혔다.
지난 1월 9명의 대가족 전입 이후, 최근 13남매를 둔 김모(47) 씨 부부가 또 한번 보령으로 전입을 완료하면서 지역 사회에 환영의 목소리가 이어지고 있다.
김 씨 가족은 아이들의 건강한 성장을 위해 여러 지역을 검토한 끝에 보령을 선택했다. 김 씨는 "이웃들과 교류하며 새로운 삶을 시작할 생각에 기대가 크다"며 설렘을 전했다. 부인 임 씨 역시 "아이들에게 좋은 환경을 제공하고 싶었는데 양육 환경이 잘 조성된 보령이 딱 맞는 곳이라 이주를 결심했다"고 만족감을 드러냈다.
보령시는 김 씨 가족이 지역에 안정적으로 정착할 수 있도록 다양한 지원을 아끼지 않을 계획이다. 특히 13남매 중 만 12세 이하 여덟째부터 열셋째까지의 자녀들에게는 ‘드림스타트’ 맞춤형 통합서비스를 제공해 건강하고 행복한 성장을 지속적으로 도울 예정이다.
김동일 보령시장은 “김 씨 가족이 보령의 새로운 일원이 된 것을 진심으로 환영한다”며, “13남매가 새 보금자리에서 희망을 키우고 가족이 행복한 꿈을 키워 나갈 수 있도록 적극 응원하겠다”고 말했다.
이어 "보령시는 아이와 부모 모두가 행복한 도시를 만드는 데 최선을 다하겠다"는 뜻을 전했다.
