충남 논산시가 지난 19일 지역 농업 발전을 선도할 전문 농업인을 양성하기 위해 ‘2025년 논산농업대학’ 입학식을 개최했다고 20일 밝혔다.
올해 논산농업대학에는 ▲딸기학과 ▲수박학과 ▲스마트농업학과 ▲벤처농업학과 등 4개 학과에 115명의 학생이 입학했으며, 오는 11월까지 총 30회의 교육 과정을 밟게 된다.
특히 이론 교육에 그치지 않고 실습과 현장 견학, 조별 활동 등을 병행하며 실질적인 농업 기술 습득을 지원할 예정이다.
논산시는 변화하는 농업 환경에 대응하기 위해 현장 중심 교육을 확대하고, 각 학과의 특성을 반영한 맞춤형 커리큘럼을 운영함으로써 전문 농업인 양성에 박차를 가할 방침이다. 이를 통해 논산농업대학이 전국 최고의 농업 교육기관으로서 명성을 이어가겠다는 목표다.
백성현 논산시장은 “전문 농업인 육성과 연구하는 농업을 통해 농산물 경쟁력을 키워 잘 사는 농촌의 원동력을 만드는 시간이 되길 바란다”면서, “농촌과 농업, 농업인이 함께 잘 살고 행복한 길을 찾을 수 있는 성장의 기반을 마련하는데 최선을 다하겠”고 밝혔다.
