브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 신동욱 국민의힘 수석대변인은 3일 “오늘은 제77주년 제주 4·3 희생자 추념일”이라며 “1947년 3월 1일부터 7년이 넘는 기간 동안 냉전과 분단이라는 시대적 비극 속에서 수만 명의 도민들이 목숨을 잃었고, 유가족들 또한 인고의 세월을 견뎌야만 했다”고 밝혔다.
신 대변인은 이날 논평에서 “현대사의 비극인 제주 4·3 사건의 희생자를 추모하며, 지금도 참혹한 기억을 안고 살아가는 유가족 및 제주도민들께 깊은 위로의 말씀을 전한다”며 희생자들의 넋을 기렸다.
그는 “제주 4·3 사건의 아픔은 아직도 끝나지 않았다”며 “지금도 희생자 유해 발굴 작업이 이루어지고 있으며, 지난해에는 희생자의 유골이 75년 만에 고향 제주로 돌아오기도 했다”고 밝혔다.
신 대변인은 또한 “국민의힘도 희생자 유가족 여러분들의 간절한 바람처럼 제주 4·3을 잊지 않겠다”며 “유가족들의 아픔을 치유하고, 제주 4·3의 의미를 되새길 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.
