브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 국민의힘 신동욱 수석대변인은 9일 "미국발 관세 전쟁에 맞서 정부, 국회, 경제계가 ‘원팀’이 되어 긴밀하게 공조해 나가야 한다"고 밝혔다.
신 대변인은 이날 논평을 통해 "한덕수 대통령 권한대행이 트럼프 대통령과의 통화에서 한·미 동맹과 무역균형, 북핵 문제 등 다양한 주제에 대해 논의했다"며 이같이 말했다.
그는 "한 대행은 한·미 동맹의 확대 및 강화, 북한 비핵화에 대한 한·미 양국과 국제 사회의 의지를 강조했고, 조선·LNG 및 무역균형 등 3대 분야에서의 협력을 제안했다"면서 "트럼프 대통령은 관세 추가 협상 여지를 남겨두면서 ‘한국과 일본 같은 동맹과 우선 협상하라’고 지시한 것으로 알려졌다"고 말했다.
신 대변인은 이어 "이번 통화는 미국의 상호관세 발표를 하루 앞둔 시점에 이루어졌다는 점에서 의미가 크며, 양국 간 대화 채널 복원의 신호탄이 됐다는 점에서 매우 고무적이다"라며 "이제 정부는 더욱 발 빠르게 대응해야 하며, 통상 조직을 재정비하고, 검토해온 전략을 정교하게 가다듬어 국익을 위해 전력을 다해야 한다"고 강조했다.
신 대변인은 "무엇보다 트럼프 행정부와의 협상력을 높이기 위해 정부, 국회, 경제계가 ‘원팀’이 되어 긴밀히 공조해야 한다. 국익 앞에서는 여야가 따로 없으며, 모두가 힘을 모아야 할 때다"라고 거듭 강조했다.
