바이오산업 생태계 육성에 행정력을 모으고 있는 전북자치도가 최대 바이오 시장인 미국으로 외연을 확장한다.
전북자치도는 국내ㆍ외 우수 연구기관과 협력체계를 구축한 데 이어 지난 8일부터 13일까지 미국 보스턴과 미니애폴리스를 방문, 바이오 글로벌 협력 거점 구축을 위한 실무 협의와 전략적 업무협약을 진행했다고 11일 밝혔다.
이번 출장에는 전북자치도ㆍ전북대학교ㆍ원광대학교ㆍ전북테크노파크ㆍ도내 바이오기업 등이 발걸음을 맞췄다.
전북 바이오산업의 글로벌 확장을 본격화하기 위한 이번 출장 핵심은 보스턴 CIC(Cambridge Innovation Center)에 전북 협력 거점 마련에 목적을 담았다.
또, 재미한인제약인협회(KASBP)ㆍ한국보건산업진흥원 미국지사와 도내 기업의 미국 진출을 지원하는 기반 구축에 따른 것이다.
방문단은 하버드 의과대학 소속 메사츄세츠 종합병원(MGH)을 방문해 최첨단 바이오 연구 현황을 공유하고 인력교류와 공동연구 방안을 논의했다.
