브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 신동욱 국민의힘 수석대변인은 15일 “추가경정예산을 더 이상 지체할 시간이 없다”며 “정부가 제시한 추경안이 최대한 빠른 시간 내에 통과될 수 있도록 민주당도 초당적 협력에 나서주길 바란다”고 말했다.
신 대변인은 이날 논평을 통해 “이번 추경안은 재해·재난, 통상·AI 경쟁력 강화, 민생 지원 등 필수 예산 중심으로 편성됐고, 침체된 우리나라의 경제 동력을 살릴 실질적 돌파구가 될 것으로 기대된다”며 이같이 밝혔다.
이어 “최상목 경제부총리가 오늘 12조 원 규모의 추경안 제출 계획을 발표했다”며 “10조 원 규모의 기존 추경안으로는 대내외적 위기 극복에 부족하다는 의견을 반영해 2조 원을 증액한 것”이라고 설명했다.
그는 “지금 우리 경제는 미중 관세전쟁 등 대외 여건 악화로 인해 경제성장률에도 적신호가 켜지는 등 유례없는 복합 위기에 처해 있다”며 “그럼에도 불구하고 민주당은 경제수장 발목잡기에만 몰두하고 있다”고 지적했다.
또한 “민주당은 올해 예산안을 일방적으로 대폭 삭감해 재난 대응은 물론 적재적소에 예산이 쓰이지 못하도록 하여 안타깝게 시간을 허비해왔다”며 “그랬던 민주당이 이제 와 대규모 추경을 외치며 경제부총리 탄핵까지 추진하는 것은 모순된 행보”라고 비판했다.
신 대변인은 “지금은 오직 민생과 국가 경제만 생각해야 할 때이며, 추경은 타이밍이 가장 중요하다”며 “신속한 추경 통과를 위해 초당적 협력에 나서야 한다”고 강조했다.
