충남 계룡시는 16일 금암초등학교 앞에서 어린이들의 안전한 등굣길 확보를 위한 교통안전 캠페인을 펼쳤다고 밝혔다.
이번 캠페인은 지난달 엄사초등학교에서 진행된 활동에 이은 두 번째 행사로, 논산경찰서, 계룡시 녹색어머니회, 모범운전자회 등 40여 명이 함께하며 민·관 협력을 통해 추진됐다.
참석자들은 어린이 보호구역과 주요 교차로 주변에서 안전 피켓을 활용해 운전자들에게 서행을 유도하고, 학생들에게는 보행 중 스마트폰 사용 자제, 횡단보도 이용 방법 등 교통안전 수칙을 직접 안내했다.
시는 캠페인을 통해 학생들의 교통안전 의식을 높이는 한편, 보호자의 경각심도 함께 제고해 스쿨존 사고 예방에 실질적인 효과를 기대하고 있다. 시는 앞으로도 관내 초등학교를 순차적으로 방문해 같은 취지의 교통안전 활동을 이어나갈 계획이다.
이응우 계룡시장은 “학생 안전의 시작과 끝은 등하굣길에서 만들어진다”며, “스쿨존 내 안전한 교통문화 정착을 위해 유관기관, 학교, 학부모 및 지역민 등과 지속적으로 협력해 나가겠다”고 강조했다.
