예산군, 국제슬로시티연맹 '세 번째 재인증' 획득

충남 예산군이 국제슬로시티연맹으로부터 세 번째 재인증을 받으며, '느림의 미학'을 실천하는 도시로서의 입지를 다시 한번 확인했다고 21일 밝혔다. 

이번 재인증은 2009년 최초 인증 이후 2015년과 2019년에 이어 세 번째로 이루어진 것으로, 군의 지속적인 노력과 주민들의 참여가 결실을 맺은 결과다.​

군은 지난 5년간 슬로시티의 철학을 지역사회에 뿌리내리기 위해 다양한 활동을 전개해왔다. '예산군 슬로시티 지원 및 운영 조례'를 제정하고, 주민위원회를 구성하여 주민 역량 강화 워크숍과 전통 계승 교육을 실시했다. 특히 짚공예 체험 프로그램을 운영하며 전통문화의 계승과 지역경제 활성화를 동시에 도모했다.​

재인증 평가는 에너지·환경 정책, 생활환경 인프라, 도시 삶의 질, 농업·관광 및 전통예술 보호, 방문객 환대 및 지역주민 교육, 사회적 연대, 파트너십 등 7개 분야 72개 항목으로 구성되어 있다. 

예산군은 5년 동안 군민 모두가 함께 '슬로시티 정신'을 꾸준히 실천해 온 점 등 모든 항목에서 우수한 평가를 받아 재인증에 성공한 것으로 보고 있다. 

최재구 예산군수는 "슬로시티의 궁극적인 목표는 지역 고유의 전통과 문화, 생태 자원을 활용해 지속 가능한 도시 발전과 군민 삶의 질 향상을 실현하는 데 있다"며 "이번 재인증을 계기로 모두가 찾고 싶은 예산형 슬로시티 조성에 더 힘쓰겠다"고 밝혔다.​

한편, 군은 앞으로도 슬로시티 정신을 바탕으로 지역 고유의 가치를 보존하고, 주민과 함께하는 지속가능한 도시 발전을 위해 노력할 계획이다.
