브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 권동욱 국민의힘 대변인은 28일 이재명 더불어민주당 대선후보를 향해 "‘배제의 정치’로 ‘통합’을 이루겠다는 것은 어불성설"이라고 비판했다.
권 대변인은 이날 논평을 통해 "이재명 대선후보는 89.77%라는 당내 경선 득표율을 기록했지만, 이 수치는 기대보다는 커다란 우려를 낳게 한다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
그는 "90%에 육박하는 득표율은 ‘비명횡사’로 불렸던 지난 총선 공천, 그리고 ‘움직이면 죽는다’는 극단의 폭력적 언어 등 민주당이 쌓아온 ‘배제의 정치’가 가져온 결과물로 봐야 한다"라며 "당내에서 건강한 비판 세력이 소멸했다는 것을 이 수치보다 더 잘 보여주는 것은 없을 것"이라고 지적했다.
이어 "민주당의 배제의 정치는 당내에만 국한되지 않았다"며 "국회에서는 다수당의 물리력으로 법안과 의사일정을 일방처리하며 소수 존중과 대화, 타협이라는 입법부의 전통적 가치를 훼손했다"고 비판했다.
그는 "정부의 국무위원들을 향해서는 수없이 탄핵소추를 꺼내 들었고, 배려와 포용은 찾아볼 수 없었다"면서 "이렇게 배제의 정치로 일관해온 민주당이 이제 와 ‘통합’을 말하고 있지만, 배제의 정치로 통합을 얘기하는 것은 어불성설이다. 통합의 전제는 포용이고, 포용은 배제의 정반대 지점에 있기 때문"이라고 강조했다.
권 대변인은 "통합이 시대정신임은 분명하며, 우리 사회는 지금 그 어느 때보다 통합이 절실하다"라며 "사회 곳곳에서 갈등과 반목이 커지고 있고, 대내외 경제 여건은 위기감이 높으며, AI 등 첨단기술이 바꿔놓을 미래에 대한 불확실성도 불안을 키우고 있다"고 했다.
권 대변인은 "이 모든 위기를 슬기롭게 극복하기 위해서는 국민 한 사람 한 사람의 힘을 모으고, 과거와 현재를 넘어 전방위적 변혁이 예고된 미래를 대비해야 한다"며 "통합과 포용은 ‘행동의 언어’이며, 행동과 다른 말뿐인 통합은 가식에 불과하다"고 말했다.
그러면서 "줄곧 포용과는 정반대의 길, 배제의 길을 걸어온 민주당에게 통합은 요원해 보인다"고 덧붙였다.
