충남 논산시(시장 백성현)가 대상포진 무료 예방접종 대상을 65세 이상으로 확대한다. 시는 다음 달 7일부터 30일까지를 ‘집중 접종 기간’으로 정하고 예방에 나선다고 28일 밝혔다.
대상포진은 수두-대상포진 바이러스가 몸속에 잠복해 있다가 면역력이 떨어질 때 활성화돼 발병하는 질환이다. 고령층에서 주로 발생하며, 극심한 통증과 신경통, 후유증 등 심각한 합병증으로 이어질 수 있다. 이에 따라 예방접종이 무엇보다 중요하다는 것이 전문가들의 설명이다.
