브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 29일 국민의힘 대선 경선에서 탈락한 홍준표 전 대구시장이 정계 은퇴를 선언했다.
홍 후보는 이날 서울 여의도 국민의힘 당사에서 3차 경선 진출자가 발표된 직후 소감 발표를 통해 "지난 30년 간 여러분의 보살핌으로 훌륭하게 깨끗하게 정치 인생을 오늘로 졸업하게 돼서 정말 고맙다"고 밝혔다.
그는 "이제 시민으로 돌아가겠다"며 "자연인으로 돌아가서 좀 편하게 살도록 하겠다"고 했다.
그러면서 "이번 대선에서 저의 역할은 여기까지"라고 덧붙였다.
홍 후보는 또한 자신의 페이스북에도 글을 올려 "오늘 조기졸업했다. 모든 것을 내려놓고 서울시민으로 돌아가고자 한다"면서 "지난 30여년 정치 생활동안 보살펴주신 국민 여러분, 당원 동지 여러분들께 고개 숙여 감사드린다"고 했다.
